Happy Veteran’s Day! Even though it’s a holiday most people get off, today was crazy productive for me. I felt like I was in a groove and also had a nice balance for once lol Being productive makes me feel really good about myself and keeps anxiety and a dread that I’m not doing enough away. Raise your hand if you’ve ever felt like no matter how much you do you’re not doing enough 🙋‍♀️ I hear you, so this post is dedicated to all the hard working men and women. This Fall has been so beautiful. I love the colors of fall, earth tones, burnt oranges, warm browns, bright and mustard yellows, vibrant and rust reds, my favorite. It seriously doesn’t feel like Monday since I work weekends as well but tell me what you did over the weekend??! I really want to know. I did a lot of photography, a lot of “bad” eating, and am devouring the current book I’m reading, The Choice by Edith Eger. It’s sooo good. Sometimes this is my face, but it isn’t my heart. Sometimes I have bad dreams and wake up feeling relieved, sometimes I have good dreams and wake up feeling lonely. Sometimes I feel emotionally drained and have to put on a happy face for the day, and sometimes I don’t feel the need to smile for other people’s comfort.

If you’re sad, let yourself feel sad. If you’re peaceful, let yourself feel peace. If you’re angry, lonely, content or joyous, let yourself experience and examine those feelings. You don’t owe people smiles. You don’t own them anger or tears. You don’t owe the world emotion that doesn’t honor your true feelings.

You are entitled to your emotional experience without explanation or defense. It is real because it is real for you. Hold yourself accountable to them, learn, grow, and recognize our emotional experiences are a journey.

Me? I’m peopled out. I’m craving a certain connection I’m lacking and find that surface interactions are making me be intentional about the smile on my face. And that’s ok, it’s a new day, and I’ll be able to give myself what I need soon.

It’s Friday!! Phew this week guys let me tell ya...

If you haven’t heard I started a new day job and it’s b u s y lol I’m learning a lot but this week flew by!

This morning was an opportunity to practice some of my Daily Stoic teachings. I got up at 5am, got my daily stoic page in for the day (DM if you have questions, full blog post in the works) and left in time to make it to a 715 Barre3 class. Well there was a horrible accident on the freeway which caused a traffic backup and I missed class.

We have all lost our sh*t when in traffic lol but not today. I guess I was meant to arrive when I did to have time to get this post done this morning, I guess I’m meant to take the class over my lunch break, I guess it’s not so bad after all :)

Pay attention to what comes into your life.

I love books, and theoretically, I love reading. But raise your hand if you’re like me and despite all good intentions can’t seem to find time to read or prioritize time to read? 🙋‍♀️

This is why I say pay attention though... I was in a meeting where we happen to all share our personal favorite books, 3 days ago I was gifted 2 books and yesterday I was gifted a third. All unexpected, and today I’ve felt a stronger craving to read.

So what am I doing after work today? Not ignoring this nudge and working OT or going to the gym or any other thing that is more of a “priority”, no, I’m going to listen and read.

Hump day is donut day right? 🍩 My fav is the lavender donut at @cocodonuts BUT don’t get the regular, it has to be one with the cake batter dough 🤤 So good!

I love an oil to remove my makeup (EVOO to be specific) but I wanted to try out some cleansing balms as well.

Guys, these are ah-mazing! This one by @farmacybeauty is certified green at Sephora and I’m obsessed. I’ve been trying different ones to do a full blog post review but if you’re still using wipes to remove your makeup, girl, grab this cleansing balm, or at least head to the kitchen for some EVOO (feels like heaven on your skin!).

Yesterday was a good day. I got to spend the day with one of my best friends, exploring a place that’s been on my list for a while now, and even though I need a spray tan, my belly was bloated from nasty/tasty road food, and I was sans makeup, I was feelin myself.

Give yourself permission to do that! I mean, there’s nothing like a hot springs with a “clothing optional” policy that will make you feel comfortable in the skin you’re in right now.

You don’t need to look bronzed, you don’t need to lose 15lbs, and you don’t need lashes and a flawless complexion to feel sexy and comfortable and alive. Judging by this pic wanna guess what one of my favorite ass-ets is?? Yeah we had a good time 👌

I’m crossing things off my list like a bandit over here and I have to keep reminding myself not to over load my schedule.

I’m the kind of person who loves to pack things into every minute of the day then wakes up that day wishing I hadn’t done that. Anyone else like this?

My suggestion? Get reeeally comfortable telling people “no”, that you’re busy (even if that’s just busy with self care!), and telling yourself that it’s ok to have unscheduled time. “Free” time can be quite productive so don’t feel guilty for having some in your life 👌

Also, baby fever has been replaced with puppy fever 🙈 at least that’s more cost effective right? 🤷‍♀️

We are perfectly imperfect. I could have edited out the freckles on my shoulders, the dimple on the back of my thigh, or the fact that my legs look 2 different colors 😂 but honestly, I think all those things are kinda cute, and they make me, me.

I think embracing ourselves and accepting our “flaws” as a part of who we are as REAL people is a requirement of the human experience, because there is no real love that is conditional love.

One of the things I love about @causebox is that you are supporting real people, real artisans, real small business owners embracing their talents and trying to make a difference.

I grabbed this one from the @oldnavy men’s department and got a size small so it’s oversized but still flattering and cozy.

I saw, I liked it, I got it. I didn’t care it wasn’t from my gender labeled section, know what I mean? Actually I went back and got another one and I have my eye on a third LOL I’m HOOKED. Boy clothes are just better sometimes right?

Sometimes you just need a red lip and extra big hat to show the sun (and everyone else) who they’re dealing with, am I right?

I wish I knew where this gem of a sun hat is from but my boss gave it to me after an archeological dig in her closet unearthed it. It’s amazing what you can find under 20 years of sh*t 👌

Another item I’m obsessed with is this @donnamizani dress. I’ve shared it before but not with this much drama so ya know, why not throw this on for brunch? Totally acceptable... There’s just something about being able to peer at people from under your massive hat that just gives you an edge ya know?

Summer has definitely arrived. Flowers are saturating our feeds, the motorcycle riders are out in force, construction crews are throwing a monkey wrench in our daily commutes and wearing shoes like these are seasonally acceptable again. My main style descriptor would have to be “feminine” and I mean, look at these babies 😍 also they are @justfabonline and super affordable but you’d never be able to tell since they look like a million bucks 👏

Another Monday, another flower field LOL

I had to share some skin care knowledge (you’re wear sunscreen right? Try @albabotanica, it’s good) since I’m kind of in a spot where my skin swings from breakout to give me moisture.

1- If you need to heal a break out, I am LOVING the @muradskincare nourishing multi-acid peel toner (this makes your skin feel like velvet and zaps those little pimples you get when you wear your makeup too long lol) and my ride or die Lerosett clay mask for an overnight spot treatment (in my Beauty highlight). It’s a pimple game changer trust me 👌

2- If you need moisture! Hydration! Dewy, supple skin! My favs are the @formula1006us hydrating sheet masks and the @glowrecipe watermelon mask overnight. I 👏 can’t 👏 say 👏 enough 👏 good 👏 things 👏 just get a sample or travel size if you want to try it out, it lasts foreeeverrr.

3- Your skin health + gut health are linked so if your face isn’t happy with topical treatments start thinking about what you put IN your body. For me, I can’t do a lot of dairy (this is a big one for preventing skin issues) or my whole body isn’t happy Lol this is why I love my milk alternatives like @planetoat milk. It’s sooo good in coffee and like $3 bucks 👌

Happy Wednesday! Half way through the week and you know what? There’s no such thing as half way through the week for a hustler 😂 BUT one thing I really want to be intentional about making more time for is reading. I love learning and expanding my mind so podcasts and books are an essential part of my life. RN I’m addicted to @theskinnyconfidential Him and Her podcast and the @goop podcast. SUCH amazing content. Do you listen to podcasts? What are you favs? Also diving into a book about relationships written by a psychologist which should be pretty fascinating 👌 Hustle. Learn. Grow.

After a weekend like this one, where SO much was going on, I want to just finish off this beautiful, sunny, fun and laughter filled day with some gratitude. Be thankful for the things you have and the people you get to share time with. I had the most amazing weekend with one of my best friends and my parents at @salishan_resort. The attention to detail and how friendly their staff were made it the best experience. They really would go the extra mile and the pool side movies, hiking trails, aerial park, gorgeous golf course, bars, restaurants, and this AMAZING spa made it a fun and relaxing experience for everyone. I can’t wait to go back ❤️ I hope you had as much fun as I did this weekend! What were you up to?

I gave this adorable preteen aged girl a compliment on her braided pig tails after she was nice enough to hold the door for me, and her face lit up! One thing I can say about 2019 is that it’s a year of learning. Forced at some times, but learning and growing is happening. The difference is this year my fear is gone. I don’t care about “keeping” people in my life, I make room and if they want to stay they will, I don’t care about stigma and pressure, I’m going to be 30, no kids, no house, never married and I’m STILL a bad b*tch, I don’t care about the things others do, I want to learn about myself and grow my love and happiness and choose respecting me over tolerating others, I don’t care about “consequences” anymore because the only consequence of a full, self respecting and growth centric life is freedom. Everything meant for me will come at just the right moment and I only need to be brave enough to go for it when it does. No fear, no tolerating outside BS, no hesitation, the me I’m meant to be is waiting for me to show up and I’m not about to disappoint her.
