Girls just want to have fun — and that’s exactly what we did this weekend. 💕

With our Magic Keys set to expire soon and still undecided on renewing, we decided to squeeze in one last trip. We drove down Thursday night, played a little hooky from school on Friday (shhh 🤫), and soaked up the kind of weekend that reminds you how special these moments really are.

There was lots of eating, lots of shopping, and so many laughs — but my favorite part was the extra one-on-one time. Just me and my girl, no rushing, no schedules, just being together and making memories. Those are the moments I’ll always hold onto.

It was the perfect break from the January doldrums. The weather was beautiful, we even snuck in some pool time, and everything felt easy and fun.

We also scored a last-minute deal at the Disney Villas. I booked a “duo” room without realizing it was supposed to be tiny, but it worked in our favor when we ended up with a complimentary upgrade. The room was beautiful and even had a small kitchenette.

You just can’t get that nostalgic glow from LEDs. This year, I finally broke down and bought colorful incandescent lights to give my tree that warm, cozy glow I remember from childhood. Although, we did use a twinkling strand of LEDs as well to give it that extra pizzazz. (My husband and kids like twinkle)

I know it may not be the most aesthetic, Instagram-perfect tree, but it’s full of warmth, color, and memories, and that’s all that matters.

I can’t believe it’s here already, and on a Friday, no less! I’m extra excited that our arches will stay up through the entire weekend to celebrate Día de los Muertos as well.

Right now, I’m in full prep mode, cleaning, cooking, and getting everything ready for tonight’s festivities. It’s going to be a full, fun, weekend.

For those who may not be familiar, Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a beautiful Mexican tradition that honors loved ones who have passed. It’s celebrated on November 1st and 2nd, coinciding with All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day. Families build ofrendas adorned with marigolds, candles, photos, and favorite foods of the departed to welcome their spirits home.
