Because we started the day a little late, we missed most of our Old City walking tour — but Cartagena had better plans for us. We made it to El Baluarte just barely before sunset and it ended up being the most magical introduction to the city. A cabana bar perched on top of the historic walls, live music drifting through the air, ocean views on one side and the glowing Old City on the other… pure Cartagena romance. Cocktails in hand, warm breeze, and then fireworks lighting up the sky right above us. We’re choosing to believe they were staged as our official welcome. Let me be delusional in peace.
