16 years ago, I prayed and asked God that the next man I fell in love with would be sent by Him… and that he wouldn’t just love me, but that he would also love my 2 year old daughter too.🥺 As I watched him preparing to celebrate her 18th birthday… shopping for her, thinking of her, loving her in the smallest and biggest ways… it hit me deeply that a father is not defined by DNA. A father is the man who shows up. The man who stays. The man who chooses you… every single day. Before she could even understand what that meant, he told me, “That’s my daughter.” And he has lived that truth ever since. No hesitation. No conditions. Just unwavering, unconditional love. You see… biology may create life, but love, sacrifice, and presence create a father. And my husband has been that from the very beginning. Lisa is blessed. And I am beyond grateful that God answered that prayer… not just for me, but for her. Because fatherhood isn’t just a title… it’s a commitment. And he has honored that commitment for 16 years.🙌🏾 Antwan baby, thank you for being an incredible man… the kind of man who didn’t just love me, but stepped in and became everything my daughter needed. I honor you for that, always. 🤍 “The righteous man walks in his integrity; his children are blessed after him.” — Proverbs 20:7
