16 years ago, I prayed and asked God that the next man I fell in love with would be sent by Him… and that he wouldn’t just love me, but that he would also love my 2 year old daughter too.🥺

As I watched him preparing to celebrate her 18th birthday… shopping for her, thinking of her, loving her in the smallest and biggest ways… it hit me deeply that a father is not defined by DNA.

Being a mom of 9, there were real moments I thought I’d never get my “pink” back.

This… right here… is what I mean when I say it’s the little things 🥺

I mentioned ONE time, just in passing… that I wanted to start a perfume collection. Not because I needed it. Not because it was a priority. But because I’m learning to step into a softer version of myself… a version that allows beauty, intention, and joy to exist without guilt.

And my husband?
He was listening, even when I didn’t think he was.🥺

No questions. No planning with me. No “send me a list.”
He went out… picked out 16 fragrances… some popular, some personal, and then took it a step further and created a whole space for them.

That’s what being seen feels like.

This morning felt like a blur… but the kind of blur I once prayed for.

It’s full, it’s busy, and it requires everything from both of us, but this is the life we asked God for.

Not just the house, not just the children… but this.
Doing life together.
Side by side.
Not one carrying it all, but both of us showing up fully.

There were seasons where I begged God to fix things, to change things, to make it easier… and now I see—He was building us into the kind of couple who could handle this kind of life together.

We are not perfect.
We are not always rested.
But we are aligned. And that has changed everything.

This is what our nights look like when the house finally gets quiet. It's playful, spicy, fun, and it is ours.

I am sharing this because I know there are marriages out there that are still standing, but slowly drifting into routine. You are still committed, still showing up, but something feels missing. The softness is gone. The fun is gone. The flirting has faded. I know because we were almost there in year 1.

But we realized there's s a difference between loving your spouse and staying in love with your spouse. Loving is the feeling, but staying in love is the commitment. It is the commitment to show up, to nurture the relationship, to create closeness, and to choose each other in the middle of ordinary moments.

For us, it looks like this. It looks like doing skincare together before bed, laughing, touching, and simply being close. After 16 years of together and 9 children, we have learned that connection does not just happen. You have to be intentional about it.

Marriage is ministry, and it requires tending to. We choose each other daily. We make time for each other. We laugh together, we hold space for each other, and we stay close even in the smallest moments.

Staying in love takes effort, but it is the sweetest work we will ever do.

Our first year of marriage was honestly our biggest test.

By that time we had already been together almost 7 years and had four children. From the outside it probably looked like we had it all figured out… but behind the scenes we were carrying a lot of brokenness.

We both came into marriage with baggage, past hurts, and things we didn’t yet know how to communicate through.

There were moments when it would have been easier to walk away than to keep doing the work.

But God.

Somewhere along the way we realized something that shifted everything for us.

Our marriage had to become bigger than our pride, our past, and our pain.

So we started leaning on God.
On His Word.
On prayer.

And even now, 16 years later and 9 children in, we still make time to grow together.

Lately before bed we’ve been reading The Bait of Satan together, and it has sparked some really honest conversations between us about offense, forgiveness, and protecting the unity of our marriage.

Because the truth is… offense is one of the quickest ways the enemy can create distance between two people who love each other.

Marriage doesn’t stay healthy by accident.

It requires intention.
Grace.
Patience.
And a willingness to keep choosing each other.

Still growing.
Still learning.
Still choosing each other.

Anything worth having is worth fighting for.

We’re in the middle of March now. And this is usually the point where people start falling off. Life gets busy. The excitement wears off.

But consistency is built in the quiet moments.
The days when motivation is nowhere to be found. That’s the real work.

So this is my reminder to you… to start again today.🫶🏾

This is rich… because as a mom of 9, I don’t have to beg my husband to help with our kids. I don’t have to beg for a day off. I don’t have to beg for a nanny.

Why? Because we’re partners in raising our family.

Today he told me, “Stay home and relax.”
He let me sleep in, made me lunch, and then loaded up all nine of our children and left the house so I could enjoy some quiet time. Meanwhile I’m sitting here in my plush robe on this oversized sectional like I own a luxury spa… except the spa is my living room.

People assume when you have a lot of kids you must be exhausted, miserable, and never have time for yourself. And listen… sometimes motherhood absolutely does feel overwhelming. Some days I am burnt out. The assignments of being a wife, mother, and business owner can be heavy.

But here’s the difference: my husband values a rested wife.

He understands that when I’m balanced, when I have peace, when I’m not running on fumes… our entire home benefits. My joy benefits him. My peace benefits our children. My health benefits our marriage.

So he encourages me to step away. And when I refuse to leave my sanctuary (because let’s be honest, my house is my favorite place), he takes the kids and gives me the space anyway.

He’s my village.

We don’t have family in this state helping us raise our children. But we have each other. And that partnership changes everything.

To the women reading this: you deserve rest too.

I stopped begging God to fix my husband… and instead started asking Him to fix me.

Not because my husband is perfect.

Teach me patience.

It took me an embarrassingly long time to finally finish this room… but better late than never.

Between motherhood, work, babies, and life constantly moving, this project kept getting pushed to the back burner. But today I finally finished designing Lea and Livie’s room and I’m honestly so proud of how it turned out.

Creating spaces for my children that feel peaceful, beautiful, and truly theirs means a lot to me. I wanted their room to feel cozy, functional, and a place where they can rest, laugh, talk, and just be girls together.

Now that everything is finally coming together, I’m curious…

And in that moment, I was reminded that discipline builds confidence, and consistency builds strength far beyond the physical.

Last night I shared a video about surprising my husband with his dream truck, and I said something that stood out to many of you. I said that I am a steward over my husband. Some of you loved that mindset, and others asked what I meant by it, so I want to clarify my heart.

When I say I am a steward over my husband, I am not speaking about ownership, control, or domination. I’m speaking about responsibility, care, prayer, and faithfulness before God. I believe God entrusted me with his life, to nurture him, love him, encourage him, pray for him, and support the man God is shaping him to be according to His purpose.

I see my husband as my assignment, not in a burden sense, but in a sacred sense. He has been entrusted into my care. My role as his wife is to pour into him as he becomes the man, the father, and the man of God God created him to be. That does not mean I lead him as a shepherd, God alone does that. But I am called to support, cover, cultivate, and pray over what God is already doing in his life. Stewardship is not dominance. Stewardship is faithfulness.

And I believe this works both ways. I believe my husband is also a steward over my life. He has been entrusted with nurturing me, encouraging me, praying for me, loving me, and helping guide me into the woman God has ordained me to be. We are each other’s assignment.

There have been moments where I was tired. Moments where my flesh wanted to give up. But I don’t view marriage as something sustained by feelings alone. I view it as an assignment from God.

Marriage, to me, is like building a house. The foundation gets laid, the framing goes up, and then the hard parts come. Delays. Roadblocks. Frustration. But frustration doesn’t mean you abandon the build. You keep going. You finish the work. You protect what you’ve already invested in.

I’m building something here. I am fully invested. I have equity in this marriage. Stewardship means staying the course. Stewardship means protecting what God entrusted to you. Stewardship means finishing the work, not perfectly, but faithfully.

I’m about to do something I’ve never done before.
I’m honestly nervous, but I feel led.

Marriage can feel exhausting, especially when you’re raising a big family, or honestly, even a small one. It’s easy to grow tired. It’s easy to grow complacent. And if we’re not careful, that’s where resentment quietly starts to grow.

What I’ve learned is this: love can’t just live in words. It has to be followed by action.

Even on the hardest days. Even when we’re both not feeling our best.

This was me running a bath for my husband while he was sick with a stomach bug. Nothing grand. Nothing performative. Just choosing to see him, care for him, and remind him that he is deeply loved in every capacity.

My husband and I are committed to showing up for each other, not just when it’s easy, but when it matters most. This is me choosing him. And I hope it encourages other couples to do the same, love each other loudly, quietly, and consistently.

Valentine’s Day wasn’t about gifts.
It was about intention.

My husband left early that morning with AJ and Austin and spent hours making sure his wife and his six daughters felt seen, loved, and valued. We didn’t expect it. We weren’t waiting for it. And that made it even more meaningful.

Watching him show up, not just for me, but for our girls reminded me why this matters so much. Their first experience of love comes from their father. The way he speaks to them. The way he honors them. The way he shows them that love is thoughtful, consistent, and intentional.

I am grateful to God for a husband who continues to grow, who chooses presence, and who leads our home with care. A man who understands that being a husband and a father isn’t about perfection, but about showing up again and again with love.

I walked into this and honestly had no words.🥺
