Humidifiers add moisture to the air, which helps with dry skin, congestion, allergies, and sleep.🙌🏼

But if a humidifier contains toxic plastics, coatings, or chemical treatments, those can off-gas or break down into the vapor you and your family breathe.

Cheaper humidifiers sometimes use low-grade plastics that release VOCs (volatile organic compounds) or BPA into the mist—especially when warm steam is involved.

Nylon - Most standard floss is made from nylon, a petroleum-based plastic that doesn’t biodegrade.

❌Teflon (PFAS Chemicals) - Some flosses are coated with per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) to make them glide easily. These “forever chemicals” have been linked to hormone disruption and other health concerns.

❌Wax Coating
Many flosses are coated with petroleum-based wax to help them slide between teeth. Some brands use beeswax or plant-based wax instead.

❌Artificial Flavorings & Sweeteners
Conventional floss may contain artificial mint or other synthetic flavors, sometimes made with propylene glycol or chemical additives.

❌Antimicrobial or Whitening Agents
Some flosses include triclosan (a possible endocrine disruptor) or bleaching agents for whitening.

There are better options!🎉 Look for:

‼️They definitely fooled me! This pan looked GREAT! Free from all the harmful chemicals AND nonstick BUT-

‼️Here’s what was found:
“According to the GreenPan class action, GreenPans contain several known toxins; silane, aluminum oxide, tetraethoxysilane, methyltrimethoxysilane, and potassium
titanate. These substances, says the plaintiff, are known to cause health problems.” (See below for resource link)

After much research, here are some tips to help you when searching for toxinfree pots & pans:

❌avoid ANYthing “nonstick”
❌avoid Aluminum: non-anodized aluminum easily leaches into cooked foods, especially when the foods are acidic.
Aluminum is cumulative, and even small doses over time become highly toxic. It’s a powerful neurotoxin.
❌avoid Teflon: Teflon cookware can emit a chemical called perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA). Also T-Fal and Silverstone
❌Copper: unless it’s on the OUTSIDE of the pan, l’d avoid. It also leaches onto foods especially acidic

Safest option:
✅leadfree stainless steel
✅cast iron
✅leadfree glass

‼️Dud you know that 82% of avocado oils on U.S. shelves were either rancid or mixed with cheaper oils (like soybean or canola), even when labeled “pure.”

Many “extra virgin” avocado oils are not regulated like olive oil, so quality assurance is weak.🙈

That’s why a bit of research here is so important ! Especially since it’s the easiest and most beneficial high cooking oil. Unrefined avocado oil has a smoke point around 480°F (250°C), and refined can reach 520°F, making it one of the safest oils for high-heat cooking without producing harmful compounds.

But I was actually surprised with some of the brands for the avoid list!

❌UC Davis found that nearly 70–82% of private-label avocado oils (sold under retailer brands like Walmart, Trader Joe’s, Aldi, Kroger, Stop & Shop, etc.) were either rancid or adulterated with cheaper oils like soybean, sunflower, safflower, or canola!

❌Lab analysis revealed extremely high levels of phthalates (endocrine-disrupting chemicals) in certain brands:
-Madhava Clean & Simple Avocado Oil: ~56,800 ppb—by far the worst (MAMAVATION)

-Others with high contamination (2,000–20,000 ppb): Primal Kitchen, Private Selection (Kroger), Simple Truth Organic, Trader Joe’s

Thankfully there are fully tested brands that score the lowest for these toxins🎉

-Can release microplastics and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), especially when new.
-Often treated with stain resistance, wrinkle resistance, or flame retardants that may off-gas harmful chemicals.

2. Sheets Treated for Wrinkle Resistance (“Permanent Press”)
-Many cotton sheets are treated with formaldehyde resin to stay smooth.
-Formaldehyde is a known respiratory irritant and possible carcinogen.
-Washing reduces (but doesn’t eliminate) chemical residues.

3. Blended Fabrics with Chemical Finishes
-Cotton–polyester blends are common.
-Often coated with: Flame retardants (linked to hormone disruption). Antimicrobial finishes (like silver nanoparticles or triclosan). Color fixatives that can contain heavy metals (like lead or chromium).

4. Heavily Dyed or Low-Quality Prints
-Cheaper manufacturers sometimes use azo dyes, some of which can release carcinogenic amines.
Dark, richly dyed sheets may contain more residual chemicals if not certified safe.🙈

Thankfully there are cleaner options!
