I can’t believe it, but Otis is already 1! We celebrated his birthday with presents, cake, blueberries, and of course, a diy party hat. They have become tradition around here. 🥳 I cut it out, lettered and doodled on it, and glued it all together. I’m pretty proud of my little berry doodles. 🫐☺️ I’ve kept all of Agnes’ over the years, so we’ll add his to the stack.

Groovy Ghosts 👻🌼

@papersource’s 31 Days of Bewitching Envelopes begins today. Are you joining? It’s never too late to start creating boo-tiful envelopes!

For today’s spooky cute envelope, I used this luxurious Paper Source black envelope and my new @posca_usa dark colors set to doodle flower-crowned ghosts. Keisha inspired me years ago to create flower crowns on doodles, so obviously had to send this her way (act surprised!).

This was my first time using the paint pens on dark envelopes, and they are smooth but don’t completely cover in one pass. For these, I liked the ghostly look of the white paint pen on the black paper, so I didn’t give them a second coat. I’m excited to try these pens on more paper colors and layer them up to see how they look.

Stickers 🤝🏻 keeping toddlers busy

Otis got 1,440 stickers for Christmas 🤯 and his own little sticker book. The stickers might just be 1-inch circles in eight colors, but he thinks they are the coolest. They came in clutch on the airplane during holiday travels, and we stick a sheet in his customized book almost every day at home. If you are looking for an easy toddler activity (that also helps teach colors 🤓), I highly recommend this option. It’s inexpensive and cute.

I just used a notebook I had, but any will do. Then, I lettered on the front, which is also unnecessary, but it’s me, so I obviously did.

Have you tried this? Do your kids love stickers? It’s a great way to keep them away from the “good stickers.” 😜

How to organize allllll the art 🖼️🤪

If your child is anything like mine, they are constantly bringing home papers from school and creating their own masterpieces at home. Now, what do you do with all of it?! We finally decided on a system that isn’t dramatic for her — throwing everything straight in the trash 😬 — but also allows us to not keep everything forever.

1️⃣ We ooh and aah over the new worksheet, painting, etc., with her. Who doesn’t love to hear how great they are?

2️⃣ We pen the date onto the back of the sheet and place it in a magazine file holder. That way we know when she made it for easy sorting later, and we have a place for things as they come in.

3️⃣ After a year (or whenever you run out of magazine file holder space), sort through the papers. Keep your favorites and recycle/trash the rest. Once there has been some time between creation and trash, we found our daughter didn’t mind as much and she had fun going through the pile with us.

4️⃣ Buy your organizing supplies. We used 1.5-inch binders to hold everything, but you can save more or less, and buy a binder that fits what you’re keeping. You’ll also need a three-hole punch and a paper cutter to trim larger pieces.

5️⃣ Sort the papers into binders and order them. We organized by year, which because her birthday is in July, also aligns pretty well with the school years.

6️⃣ Punch holes and add papers to the binders. If you have any odd-shaped items, you can slip them in the sleeves at the front of the binder. We really liked that the binders I got at Target had two sleeves in the front. We used one for larger items and one for smaller drawings.

7️⃣ Label your binders. You can just write on them, or write on paper and slip them into the covers. I opted to design little cover pages with photos of her from that year.

It feels so good to have the papers under control. I don’t know why it took us so long to actually get them in binders. Now she can look at her work without making a huge mess of papers everywhere, and we have a little binder of memories up on the shelf.

How long did it take you to guess what shape I was making? 🧐✂️✨

Probably not long if you’ve been seeing my feed for the past month. I’ve been snail obsessed. So, obviously had to try my hand at collage snails using my new @xyroninc sticker maker from @papersource.

I have never used a tool like this, but it was super easy. Got it right on my second try. 😜 Pro tip: if you use one of these, you want the designed side to be facing up. Another pro tip that I mention and show at the end of the reel is that if you feed things into it one after the other, you’ll more efficiently use your sticky tape. That means you’re able to make more stickers and save money. Win-win!

Finished it off with a few marker leaves and gold @uniballco Gel Impact pen antennae (yep, that’s the plural of antenna when it comes to insects. Another fun grammar lessons with me 🤓).

Iconic Villain 🧛🏻‍♂️

Day 31 of @papersource’s 31 Days of Bewitching Envelopes, and I DID IT! I made it all the way to the end of the challenge and have 31 fun frighteningly fun envelopes to show for it. Thank you so much to Paper Source for sending me so many fun envelopes, the dark @posca_usa set and the envelope template. You can find everything I used this month linked in my bio. Back to this cutie though. The last envelope in this series was a special treat because I got to use my new Kuru Toga Dive mechanical pencil to sketch my vampire design. The scary good thing about this mechanical pencil is that automatically pushes out pencil lead for you. 🤯 It took me about 4 minutes to sketch my initial envelope design, and I didn’t have to *click* this mechanical pencil once. It truly lets you “dive” into your work, hence the name Kuru Toga Dive. Get ready to see more of it on my feed because I’m in love.

I also love that it comes in this Aurora Purple color. It’s like a dark iridescent purple barrel with black and silver highlights. Obviously my color palette. Day 27 of @papersource’s 31 Days of Bewitching Envelopes, and I got out some sparkly @sakuraofamerica gel pens and used my small denomination stamps to create a lil’ fairy garden.

I rarely use non-Forever stamps because you have to do math 😵‍💫 but I made an exception today and went a bit over just because I wanted to spread out the 10 cent stamp a little bit across the design.

Day 25 of @papersource’s 31 Days of Bewitching Envelopes, and I’ve got a little apple orchard — and a few worms. I’ve really loved working on these Paper Bag envelopes from @papersource. They are basically a Kraft envelope but not quite as porous so my markers and pens don’t soak in or catch on the paper.
