Coffee table height matters just as much as the width and length—but it’s the measurement that’s so easy to overlook. For this living room, the sofa seat height is 18 inches. The 14-inch coffee table technically fits in the floor plan, and I love the mixed materials, but it would feel too low next to the sofa. Ideally, your coffee table should be approximately the same height as the sofa seat or one to two inches lower. In this case, a table around 16–17 inches high works much better. Always check the width, length AND height before ordering furniture. Have you ever ordered a coffee table that ended up feeling too low or too high?
