I have always had a tendency to *really* overthink art.

I never feel like it’s good enough. The frame isn’t right, the art is weird, the mating is all wrong!

This week I was tired of the big blank space above my bed and decided to just start hanging (I could always change it later anyway) and suddenly the whole room felt 10x better.

The blue velvet was calling my name🤌

I know certain things really freak people out to thrift, and couches are definitely one of them. Tbh I’m pretty picky when it comes to pieces like this and was originally planning on buying something new, but I completely fell in love!!

They were also SO clean. My aunt used to have a couch she kept covered in a plastic protector 24/7 (anyone else have family that did that??) and I have to assume that’s how these were so pristine. But of course I still gave them a super deep clean too 🙃

What I love about these is how simple and easy they can be to make. While you definitely can make them from scratch, you can also use ready-to-bake dough and store bought icing to make these for a last minute super cute treat!

Step by step:
* Shape peanut butter cookie dough into triangles on one side and rounded on the other, flattening a little before baking.
* Bake per recipe or box instructions and allow to cook fully
* Melt 1 cup of chocolate chips (you can use neutral oil to thin out the chocolate a little bit if it’s too thick)
* Dip the rounded end of your cookies in the melted chocolate and tap off excess. Then dip into solid mini chocolate chips. Allow to cool on wax or parchment paper.
* Create eyes and a nose using just a few dots of black cookie icing

I still can’t believe it’s real 🥹

Yes, our bathroom renovation has been in the works for TWO YEARS 🫣 but it’s officially DONE!! And boy has it been magical to get to shower in such a beautiful space. It’s truly everything I imagined it could be when we first dreamed up this project.

The house we made : the sunroom ☀️

Added on in the 70s or 80s this sunroom addition never felt truly connected to the rest of our 1930s home. Plus, the construction quality was pretty poor. By the time we bought our house a lot of the wood (both on the walls and the actual floors) were pretty severely warped from sun damage.

I know some people will *love* the vibe of the original (we ruined it!) but to me, having a sun room that’s bright and welcoming (and not literally falling apart) brings me so much more joy than the dark cave-like room it was (but if you like caves, that’s totally cool too 🤷‍♀️)

Home doesn’t happen overnight 🫶

When we first finished our kitchen at the end of 2021 (swipe to see!) I knew I wanted to add more color and pattern, but I decided not to rush the process. I’ve come to learn that I benefit a lot from letting a space breathe - taking my time with it and not rushing to design it all at once.

The last few years I’ve tried out a few things in this space. Some have worked, and others haven’t. But lately it’s felt so much more like *me* and I don’t think I’d be feeling that way if I tried to force it.

Maybe some people will call you boring (or “sad beige”🫠) but don’t let them rush you into anything. Take your time and make your home YOUR home ❤️

Lace Doily Snowflakes
• fold in half to crease, then unfold
• fold sides towards the middle
• fold up bottom to crease, then unfold
• glue up the edges of the folded in sides and fold up the bottom, let dry
• repeat x7
• glue down center and along bottom then lay another piece on top. Repeat until all 7 are attached.

Tips
• make sure you use all paper doilies! Some have plastic edges which won’t work.
• sometimes the glue may soak throw a tiny bit, you can just gently pry apart. Even if they tear a tiny bit of the lace you won’t notice once they’re all done!
