Tuesday, September 16th, 2025 The day will begin with something quick and light, a protein shake swirling with fruit and ice, more fuel than feast. But dinner will be where the story lingers. A friend is coming over, and I will stir a pot of jambalaya, letting the spices fill the kitchen with warmth before the first bite is ever taken. There is something about feeding a friend that feels both ordinary and extraordinary. The rice will soften, the sausage will sizzle, and conversation will rise and fall like the rhythm of the simmering pot. By the time confetti sugar cookie sandwiches appear, it will not matter if the meal was simple. What will matter is the table we shared. And I cannot help but think, maybe friendship is a lot like jambalaya. A mix of what we have, a little messy, a little spicy, but somehow it comes together into something deeply satisfying.
