A gorgeous weekend in the Manchester sunshine spent with my favourite people. It was lovely to ditch the big coat, bear my toes and ankles and feel the warmth of the sun on my skin. More please!

It can be tricky to know what wear when the mercury rises in the UK, so my advice as a qualified Personal Stylist is to choose fabrics that contain 100% natural fibres to allow your skin to breathe. I opted for both cotton, silk and linen this weekend. Oh and always carry a light layer with you for when the sun gets a little camera shy.

STYLE NOTES: I’ll link on @shop.ltk and pop in my shopping highlight.

A little casual look for a sunny Saturday ā˜€ļø

#LTKplussize #LTKmidsize #LTKsummer
A new Spring workwear look has entered the chat and I love it! This warm shade of reddish brown is the perfect shade to move you from the chocolate hues of Autumn/Winter šŸ¤Žā™„ļø

QUESTION: Can you wear wide leg pleated trousers when you’re curvy and petite?

ANSWER: Hell yes!

I’m a qualified Persona Stylist, standing at 5ft 1 and with a curvy hourglass body shape, I think I demonstrate that wide leg pleated trousers are for us. In fact, they work for the majority of body shapes.

āž”ļø STYLIST TIP: In order to retain balance and proportion when wearing wide leg pleated trousers as a petite gal, I like to pair them with a fitted top and neat jacket. This ensures you can see your body shape and stops you being swamped by fabric and altering my body shape. I’d never dream of wearing anything other than a fitted top with them as otherwise I can resemble a box and believe me that’s not a good look. And note… I always tuck in too.
The position of the pleats is very important too. They need to be low down so they don’t create volume across the top of your stomach.

What are your favourite cut of trousers? Are you a wide leg, flare or straight leg trouser gal?

PS: Swipe to the end to see how else you can fasten this cute cropped blazer

STYLE NOTES : I’ll link on @shop.ltk app and pop on stories as I know you’ll be asking

Have you lost your style? Read on…

If you’re struggling with your style, or lack of, then as a Personal Stylist here are a few things to consider:

ā–ŖļøDon’t be influenced. The chances are that piece that looks amazing on the influencer or celeb won’t look the same as you unless they are the same colouring, body shape, body proportions, size and style personality

ā–ŖļøDon’t fill your wardrobe with trends as these are short-lived and will not give you a workable and wearable wardrobe that works hard for you. Don’t get me wrong, the odd trend piece is ok if it speaks to your style but a wardrobe full of trends rather than great basics does not have longevity

INSTEAD… YOU NEED TO STOP SHOPPING AND START TO FOCUS ON WHAT GREAT STYLE MEANS TO YOU

ā–ŖļøStart with your lifestyle, what do you need your wardrobe to do for you? There’s no point in having a wardrobe full of fabulous frocks if you’re running around after a toddler most days

ā–ŖļøAssess your current wardrobe: what do you have that works? What do you have too much of? What gaps do you have?

ā–ŖļøUnderstand how to dress for your colouring and body shape

ā–ŖļøStart to consider what great style looks like to you. Use instagram, Pinterest and magazines as a source of inspiration. Create a moodpboard of looks you love so you can identify the common elements

ā–ŖļøThink of three to five words that would describe your ideal style. Words such as edgy, feminine, contemporary, masculine, elegant, colourful, neutral, simple etc. This will help you drill down your style words and help you focus on your style identity

ā–ŖļøConsider what you want your wardrobe to say about you. We present an image to the world when we get dressed, what do you want the world to say about you?

ā–ŖļøShop less and shop with intention and purpose. Consider each and every item before you make that purchase. Can you wear it three ways, how does it fit into my wardrobe, do I already have something similar etc

ā–ŖļøPonder how your wardrobe makes you feel and how you would like it to make you feel. Focus on the feel and you’ll start to nail it

If this feels overwhelming then I am here to help www.clarewatkins.com

Some recent work fits…

I’ve been leaning into a lot of relaxed tailoring of late and I think that’s mainly down to my classic style personality. I struggle to dress to casually so relaxed tailoring gives me the perfect bridge between feeling put together and smart casual. As a Personal Stylist, it’s important to me to feel put together in front of my clients, but I don’t want them to feel intimidated by the way I dress. Relaxed tailoring helps me achieve this balance perfectly.

Knowing and understanding your style personality is a key tool to help you build a wardrobe that works hard for you. Shopping becomes easier and your wardrobe becomes more cohesive.

Do you know your style personality? Let me know in the comments below šŸ‘‡šŸ¼

STYLE NOTES: I’ll link as many pieces as I can on LTK which you can find is the link in my bio or by following me on the LTK app.

DID YOU KNOW that there is one very important item you need to put on before getting dressed. Do you know what it is?

You need to PUT YOUR CONFIDENCE ON FIRST

It’s not easy to ignore the societal pressures we face today and show yourself some self love is it? Very often we are champions of sharing what we love about others, yet we struggle to see it in ourselves.

I’m happy to admit that my own confidence ebbs and flows, and it’s something I work on most days. Which is why I put my confidence on before getting dressed. This has been a game changer for me because without confidence every outfit I choose to wear will never feel good enough to me.

As a Personal Stylist, my work is centred around confidence: style confidence and internal confidence. In fact, it’s probably the most important aspect of what I do, more so than curating fabulous outfits.

Once you change the narrative you speak to yourself on a daily basis then you change your mindset. That’s when self love and confidence soar. It starts with YOU. So let’s start today... name two things you love about you. Go - don’t be shy! Let me know in the comments šŸ‘‡šŸ»

You might want to save this post as a reminder for those wobbly days, because we all get them!šŸ“Œ

I feel like I’m in a situationship with Spring right now as it seems to show up when it pleases and leave just as quickly! I’ve gone from bare ankles and short sleeves to knitwear and boots in the space of 48 hours. I’m not complaining though (ok, I am šŸ˜†) as I love the impact this pop of orange has on my skin tone - see pic 2 for the full impact.

Did you know that wearing colours that are complimentary to your skin tone is the best way to give your skin a lovely, even and glowing appearance. So whether it’s neutrals or colour that you love, with a Colour Analysis appointment I can show your best shades and tones of each colour. To book your appointment visit www.clarewatkins.com Now booking for 2027.

A gorgeous little trip to the big smoke last week where I spent the day on @bondstreet

We visited @maxmara @jimmychoo @chanelofficial @dior and @victoriabeckham

We received incredible service all day, but it was particularly notable in @dior from the wonderful Flavia.

ā€œThatā€ Chanel jacket was haunting me again, so I either need a lotto win or a sugar daddy! 🤪

A day full of style, laughter and wonderful chat that filled my heart with joy ā™„ļø

What did I wear to travel long haul to Mauritius? The journey was 21 hours door to door with a change in Paris, so I knew comfort was key. The longest leg of the journey was overnight, so again comfort was a huge priority.

Those of you that know me or have followed me for a while, will know that I don’t really do casual dressing. I just don’t feel myself when I am dressed too casually and I tend to prefer a loafer or a boot over trainers, a blazer over a bomber and tailored trousers over a tracksuit.

So I wanted to remain reasonably smart and put together, but knowing I’d be sleeping on the night flight had to be factored in when building my outfit. So what did I wear? I opted for wide leg tracksuit bottoms from @varley vest from @nextofficial blazer from @meandem and trainers from @asics via @offspringhq On the second leg of the journey the blazer was switched out for the matching sweat top to the @varley bottoms. I can confirm this look worked really well and as I hoped - comfortable and stylish.

What do you wear to travel in? Let me know in the comments below šŸ‘‡šŸ¼

And that’s a wrap… the last of the holiday spam! Actually, that’s a slight lie as I’ll be sharing what I wore to travel in later in the weekšŸ˜†

It was an amazing trip to Mauritius, and one I am so grateful that I was able to take due to the current situation. It wasn’t the location we had booked, but it actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The one to one time with my eldest son felt so precious now he’s off in the world doing his thing - we definitely made some core memories. Mauritius is a beautiful island, with the most beautiful people and we will definitely be back.

STYLE NOTES: All from a previous season but I’ve located the dress and it’s on sale! I’ll link via the LTK app and on stories.

The holiday spam continues… šŸ–¤šŸŒ¹

The eagle eyed amongst you spotted this @rixo dress when I shared a quick glimpse on stories. This silk beauty got its first outing on this trip and I loved wearing it. Despite it being long sleeved and the temperature at night hovering around 25°C, I found it so easy to wear. This is because silk is a natural fibre that allows the skin to breathe, unlike manmade fibres such as polyester which will make you sweat.

The make up of your clothes matters. Please check the labels before buying and try to lean into shopping for as little plastic in your clothes as possible. Your wardrobe, your bank balance and the world will thank you. Sermon over!

The dress that keeps on giving… I pack this dress every single holiday and I wear at home too, which you’ll see if you scroll back through my posts. I reckon this dress probably owes me money right now and that makes it a sound investment in my bookšŸ‘ŒšŸ¼#fashionmaths #costperwear

It’s been a truly versatile piece that I’ve worn all year round by switching up the footwear, accessories and outerwear. It’s probably one of the hardest working pieces in my wardrobe. If I’m ever unsure what to wear then this is one of the pieces that I reach for again and again. It’s a true wardrobe work horse.

Oh and the cloud clutch is the same too - and it’s on sale!

Mauritian nights in a new arrival to my wardrobe and an exclusive sneak peek of a dress coming in the @meandem April collection šŸ¤Ž

Due to the cinched in waist, the shape of this dress is perfect if you have a narrow waist to hip ratio - that’s you hourglass and pear body types - or if you’re more rectangular, as it will create beautiful shape on your straighter frame.

Also good for us petites too as it’s not too long in the length.

As a qualified Personal Stylist, I love colour in my wardrobe, but I’ve noticed during the last six months or so I’ve been really leaning into my favourite neutrals. Shades such as camel, ivory, taupe and mushroom have dominated the looks I’ve created for myself. This has also been mirrored on the high street as I’ve noticed when choosing looks for my Personal Styling appointments that there’s been a definite absence of colour. I am hoping as we are now head long into the new Spring season that this will change. Don’t get me wrong, I love neutrals but the power of colour should never be underestimated. Not only will wearing your best colours make your skin look fresh and glowy, but there’s the psychological impact too. Research has shown that the colour you wear really affects your mood, behaviour and stress levels. Read on to discover more about what each colour represents... šŸ‘‡šŸ»

šŸ’™ Blue - loyalty, tranquility, calming, stability

ā¤ļø Red - passion, power, intensity, strength

šŸ’› Yellow - happiness, hope, joy, optimism

šŸ’š Green - healing, balance, luck, prosperity

šŸ’œ Purple - royalty, unity, wisdom, ambition

🧔 Orange - energy, fun, warmth, optimism

šŸ–¤ Black - dramatic, mystery, elegance

šŸ¤ White - innocence, purity, simplicity, goodness

🩷 Pink - love, nurture, compassion, hope

Which colours do you have most of in your wardrobe? And what colours are you wearing today? I’d love to hear so let me know in the comments šŸ‘‡šŸ»

If you’d like to discover more about your best colours and how to wear them then a Colour Analysis appointment is for you. Find out more at www.clarewatkins.com Now booking for 2027

Still wearing Winter hues, but I am so ready so switch it up ready for Spring.

It’s during the change of seasons that there’s enormous pressure to shop for a whole new wardrobe. They’ll be talk of ā€œmust havesā€ and ā€œtrending coloursā€ and the temptation will be real.

As a Personal Stylist the best advice I can give you is to start with what you already have in your wardrobe. Throw open those cupboard doors and have a review of what you already have and love. Make a note of any gaps, any items you have too many of and create a shopping list from there. But only if it’s necessary. You’ll be surprised by what you already own, I’m sure

It’s easy to be sucked in to what the ā€œfashion girliesā€ are wearing for the new season, but don’t be. Ask yourself, do you actually like it? I mean really like it? Does it work for your colouring, body shape and lifestyle. Is it your style? How much wear will you get from it? Is it a worthwhile purchase?

Answer these questions and work with what you have, and I promise it’ll make a huge impact.

HOW TO CREATE KILLER LOOKS EVERY DAY [Read On]

1ļøāƒ£ Plan and layout your outfit the night before based on the following:
WHAT - is the weather doing & what are your plans that day?
WHO - are you seeing?
WHERE - are you going?

2ļøāƒ£ Start either with an item of clothing, for example your favourite jeans, and plan the whole outfit around that. Or, alternatively, choose an accessory like a favourite scarf, piece of jewellery, bag or a pair of shoes and plan your outfit around that piece.

The prep the night before means that you won’t grab the first thing to hand in the morning (I am talking about you gym kit!) when you’re pressed for time.

The thought and little bit of time that’s gone into the preparation and planning of your outfit means you’ll wear more of your wardrobe and create killer looks every time.

You’ll experiment more and as a consequence you’ll be wearing more of your wardrobe more of the time.

No more wearing 20% of your wardrobe, 80% of the time. Because you’ll be wanting to wear all of your wardrobe all of the time and you’ll have the time to do so.

So tonight before you turn out the lights, spend just five or ten minutes planning your look for tomorrow. I promise it’ll make a huge difference.

Are you in? Let me know in the comments šŸ™‹šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

I wore a blazer and didn’t need an extra layer… could it be that Spring is finally on the way!? I sure hope so as I’m ready to bust out my blazers and ditch the layers.

What items are you excited about wearing once the warmer weather rolls around?

It’s been a wonderful week of Personal Styling this week: two new clients, three returning clients, two Gent’s Personal Styling appointments and three for the ladies. The Spring 2026 styling season is in full swing and I love it!

Rewearing some of my favourite pieces which are the basics in my wardrobe, yet they are anything but basic. These basics I wear over and over, season after season, year after year because they form the foundations of a great wearable wardrobe. Without great basics you’ll always feel like something is missing in your wardrobe.

This is also why understanding your style is key to understanding what basics your wardrobe needs. My wardrobe basics are different to yours. For example, I couldn’t be without loafers but I have clients that wouldn’t even consider them. Likewise, so many of my Personal Styling clients love a leather biker jacket, but it’s just not my style and I’d rather wear a blazer. All of this is perfectly fine because your wardrobe should represent you and your style identity. It shouldn’t be like everyone else’s wardrobe. Establish your style and you’ll know what basics your wardrobe will need.

I know some of you will be thinking that this is all well and good, but I have no idea what my style is so here are a couple of tips to get you thinking a little more about your style:

• Style Words - think of a handful of words that describe your style. Examples are: edgy, boho, feminine, sexy, elegant, masculine, feminine, minimalist, dramatic…

• Gather a mood board of looks you love. Look at the mood board and identify the common elements between them. This should give you clarity about what style you like.

Put the two together and you’ll start to gain clarity about your own unique style identity and be able to identify what items your wardrobe needs to be functional and work hard for you.

Alternatively, you could call in the experts (moi!) to help guide and direct you through the process with ease. I offer a range of services to build your style confidence. Visit www.clarewatkins.com for more information. Now booking for 2027!

I’ve been leaning into my neutrals a lot during the last six months, so I decided it was time for an injection of colour into my wardrobe. This orange cashmere sweater and triangle scarf seemed the perfect way to do this. The perfect pairing with one of my favourite neutrals, chocolate brown.

As a Personal Stylist, I talk to my clients about choosing both colours and neutrals that compliments their natural colouring. The power of wearing both should never be underestimated.

I’ve a fun day ahead as I meet a returning male client for his Personal Styling appointment. We first worked together a number of years ago and it’s time for a wardrobe refresh.

The men are really dominating my diary at the moment and I’m loving it. I’ve a real passion for men’s styling, which actually came as a surprise to me when I trained as a Personal Stylist at @londoncollegeofstyle In fact, I wasn’t at all bothered about men’s styling and wasn’t even considering offering it as a service. Boy was I wrong! I fell in love with it instantly and I was even given a male client for my final assessment - the only person on the course to be given a gent to style for their final assessments. Fast forward to today and my client book is 30% male and it’s growing fast! And why not? Why should us girls have all the fun? šŸ’šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

So if there’s a guy in your life who needs some style direction or you’re a gent lurking out there (I know you’re there!) then please get in touch via www.clarewatkins.com

PS: wore a blazer for the first time in forever and was freezing! Had to throw a coat over. It’s not blazer season yet, sadly.

Gorgeous new suede arrivals šŸ¤Ž
Petite? Curvy? Think you can’t wear barrel leg trousers or jeans? Think again! It’s all about the proportions.

You don’t want them too curved like the more horseshoe shaped styles, nor do you want them too long. A nipped in waste also helps with the balance and proportions. I’ve found these which I’ll link on LTK and I think they are great, I’d highly recommend them.

My client loved them too as she said when we met, ā€œI love this whole look!ā€

WANT TO TO BUILD THE WARDROBE OF YOUR DREAMS? Read on…
⠀
1. FEEL: The first thing you have to decide about your current wardrobe is how it makes you feel. Does it fill you with joy or fill you with dread? Notice its qualities - too many clothes, cluttered, disorganised? Can you easily find the items you need?⠀
⠀
2. ANALYSE: Does it represent you and the image you want to portray? Does have items in a variety of colours and patterns that suit your complexion? Which items flatter your body shape? Does your wardrobe suit your lifestyle? Did you compromise when you bought those pieces? Are there lots of items still with tags on? Do you only or mainly shop the sales because you perceive it to be good value? Really think about what your wardrobe in its current state is telling you.
⠀
3. EDIT: Go through item by item and really decide whether you love it or not and why. Be ruthless. Even if it’s not very clear how you feel about an item, notice whether it’s the fabric, colour or fit. That’s making you unsure. Divide them into 3 piles;⠀
⠀
A - the items that fill you with joy, that you love and want to keep⠀
B - the items you do like and have worn but are just not quite right but with some alteration could be a great fit
C - items you definitely dislike, don’t wear or need to be replaced
D - can you create more than three looks with an item?
⠀
4. REORGANISE: Sort your wardrobe by category and colour, i.e. shirts, dresses, blazers, trousers from light to dark, etc. That way you know where exactly each item is. Also place accessories, lingerie and shoes in proper boxes and racks so they keep their shape and are visible so they get worn
⠀
It takes a bit of time and effort to reorganise your wardrobe but once it’s done, it’s easier to maintain, you’ll be able to see what you own and wear it all a lot more. Everything will be easy to locate and getting dressed with fill you with joy instead of dread.

A little reminder… you don’t need a wardrobe full of clothes to be stylish. Instead, it’s about how you wear your clothes and how they make you feel. It’s about curating looks that you’ll want to wear again because they make you feel fabulous.

As a Personal Stylist, I work with many clients with wardrobes that are bursting at the seams but complain that they aren’t stylish and have nothing to wear. The solution to this is to start with what you already own rather than hitting the shops to solve the problem - because it doesn’t solve the problem, it actually adds to the problem. Wear your favourite outfit and take note of why it makes you feel so good. What elements of it do you like? Then try recreating this with different items in your wardrobe. Photograph each look so you have a record and repeat until you have created a small selection of looks you love using only what you own. Doing this will help you identify the key elements to your style and make building outfits easier. It’ll also help you identify what isn’t working for you in your wardrobe and allow you to edit those pieces out so you’re left with only what works for you and your style.

Start with what you have and work from there. Curate a wardrobe you love and one that makes you feel fabulous because life is too short for clothes that make you feel bleugh!

Even though I am a Personal Stylist, I am happy to admit my own confidence ebbs and flows and it’s something I work on most days.

You might want to save this post as a reminder for those wobbly days - we all get them as the above has demonstrated šŸ“Œ
