Have you lost your style? Read on… If you’re struggling with your style, or lack of, then as a Personal Stylist here are a few things to consider: ▪️Don’t be influenced. The chances are that piece that looks amazing on the influencer or celeb won’t look the same as you unless they are the same colouring, body shape, body proportions, size and style personality ▪️Don’t fill your wardrobe with trends as these are short-lived and will not give you a workable and wearable wardrobe that works hard for you. Don’t get me wrong, the odd trend piece is ok if it speaks to your style but a wardrobe full of trends rather than great basics does not have longevity INSTEAD… YOU NEED TO STOP SHOPPING AND START TO FOCUS ON WHAT GREAT STYLE MEANS TO YOU ▪️Start with your lifestyle, what do you need your wardrobe to do for you? There’s no point in having a wardrobe full of fabulous frocks if you’re running around after a toddler most days ▪️Assess your current wardrobe: what do you have that works? What do you have too much of? What gaps do you have? ▪️Understand how to dress for your colouring and body shape ▪️Start to consider what great style looks like to you. Use instagram, Pinterest and magazines as a source of inspiration. Create a moodpboard of looks you love so you can identify the common elements ▪️Think of three to five words that would describe your ideal style. Words such as edgy, feminine, contemporary, masculine, elegant, colourful, neutral, simple etc. This will help you drill down your style words and help you focus on your style identity ▪️Consider what you want your wardrobe to say about you. We present an image to the world when we get dressed, what do you want the world to say about you? ▪️Shop less and shop with intention and purpose. Consider each and every item before you make that purchase. Can you wear it three ways, how does it fit into my wardrobe, do I already have something similar etc ▪️Ponder how your wardrobe makes you feel and how you would like it to make you feel. Focus on the feel and you’ll start to nail it If this feels overwhelming then I am here to help www.clarewatkins.com clarewatkinspersonalstyling styleadvice
