One of my favorite budget-friendly renovation hacks is using inexpensive metal bed frames as the base for built-in bunks. Instead of building custom bunks from scratch, we wrap the frames in wood, giving us the custom look while saving a significant amount on both labor and materials. You can also do this same hack with full bunks (top and bottoms) as I’ve done in many other homes. We also sourced this awesome shiplap lookalike that we used to cover the frames. Painted it all one color and you’d never know it wasn’t a full custom carpentry build. Having the individual sconce lights and shelving for each guest makes each bed extra functional and inviting.
