How we got a kitchen that looks like $200K without actually spending $200K.

The biggest savings came from smart planning—keeping the plumbing where it was, using reeded cabinetry only in high-impact areas, finding discounted stock marble, and skipping island pendants.

We spent where it made the biggest visual impact: custom arch carpentry, paneled appliances, limewash, and marble counters.

Expensive-looking doesn't always mean expensive. It's about knowing where to spend and where to save.

In my grandparents' Berkshires house, we kept the sink and stove in their original locations, preserved the existing window, and left the exposed beams intact.
