Still one of my favorite stretches. Even more now- running around after a toddler and carrying him now that he's heavier. I went from never thinking I could do an arm balance, to learning how to do arm balances and inversions, to carrying and birthing a child, to now rebuilding my core and strength to do arm balances and inversions again. What a journey!

The human body is miraculous! Muscle memory is amazing! And YOU are capable of anything, you just have to be willing to put in the work. You have to do the work physically, mentally and emotionally. Enjoy the journey along the way.⠀

I'll be honest, having been into fitness, a personal trainer, and a yoga teacher before getting pregnant, I thought I'd be able to navigate getting back into fitness and exercise postpartum pretty easily.

Little did I know, postpartum is a wholeeee new game. There's SO much I don't know! And it's hard to navigate and figure it out. It's especially hard after a major surgery like a C-section!

Luckily there are some professionals that are experts in just the type of healing and strengthening postpartum women need before returning to the activities they used to do before pregnancy. That feeling when you crush this week's @expectingandempowered challenge! I'll be honest, the past several weeks I kept getting stuck. I would start out the week strong in terms of exercise the first couple of days and then wouldn't follow through the rest of the week.

I used to have a mindset of all or nothing. If I didn't make it to my 60 min class or make it on my mat for the specific practice I intended to, I would be so disappointed in myself. Then I realized that if I just get on my mat for the few minutes that I spent being upset, it's a better use of my time. Those few minutes still gave me tremendous benefits!

It's all part of the journey. So whether it's about work, nutrition, exercise, this is your reminder that it's not all or nothing. Don't let the the disappointment of not doing it all keep you from doing something.

I know I've done this in the past. Let me tell you, once you let go of relying on other people, events or things to bring you happiness, it opens up a whole new world. You feel lighter, and actually happier. What's stopping you from being happy? Is it fear of change? Happiness is already within you. Even if you're going through something difficult, you can find moments of joy. Don't wait for something to happen, someone to do something or to acquire something to be happy. You can be happy now and still work towards all those things without attaching your happiness to them.

How to:
1. Start from standing and hinge at the hips to fold forward.
2. Bend the knees and wrap your first two fingers around your big toe.
3. Gently use your biceps to pull your chest closer to your thighs and begin to straighten your knees.
4. Take 10 deep breaths.

Tips:
🔸 Hug your belly up and in for a deeper fold.
🔸 Engage your quads to feel more in the hamstrings.
🔸 Your knees never have to be fully straight.
🔸Let your head hang heavy and avoid compressing your neck into your shoulders.

My top 3 tips to perfect your 5 min face:

1. Skincare is everything! If you start with a great base, that means you have to do less. Cleanse and moisturize daily and invest in products to target areas you want to enhance.
2. Go for multipurpose products. Less fiddling around, less time spent opening and closing and using many different products.
3. Choose 3 features to highlight and invest in makeup that does the job. For example, I can't go without a great concealer, mascara and lip. I have hyperpigmentation under my eyes and around my mouth and lips so concealer helps there. And my @thrivecausemetics mascara enhances my lashes to make my eyes pop.
