In about 4.5 months, all three of my babies will walk out the door to school at the same time. I’ll have a 3rd grader, a kindergartener, and a preschooler. And for the first time in 11 years, I’ll come home to an empty house. For the first time in over a decade, I’ll be able to grocery shop alone, go to a doctor’s appointment without coordinating schedules, sit down for lunch on time, and hear the sound of stillness inside my own home. The days were long, and at times lonely, but they were also so full. Full of little hands, messes, laughter, interruptions, exhaustion, cuddles, and moments I wouldn’t trade for anything. So this summer, I’m planning the best one yet with my tiny crew. Because while I know I’ll deeply miss the season of always having a baby at home, I’m also ready for what’s next. Ready for a new season of motherhood. Ready to meet Jenny in it too.
