Your after-work anti doomscrolling era in DC starts now.

If you’ve been defaulting to the couch after 5pm, this one’s for you. I rounded up the best things to do in DC that are actually doable on a weeknight.

We’re talking:
classes to learn the thing you said you’ve always wanted to learn and 🏛️ museums open until 8 (and exactly where to walk after) plus 21+ events to celebrate Halloween in museums which is such a classic DC experience

Save this for the next time someone asks “what should we do tonight?” or honestly, just for yourself

Thank you for suffering through my post cold sniffles with me on this one but most importantly If what coming out with 10 videos a day is working for you keep doing that!

This is a reminder that people give advice based off of their experience, their personality, how they’re best at experiencing the world.

Most content creation advice isn’t good or bad. It just doesn’t account to how we fundamentally all communicate in our own way and that includes in the digital space.

I was thinking about my human design chart over the last few weeks for the first time in a long time and it was such a reminder of my strengths and how I best operate and it’s not being a content creation machine lol

Let me know if you want me to dive deeper on how that applies to being a content creator!

9 months post tech layoffs, no idea where I’m moving to next but I do love the fit of the white tee I found in the back of my closet that I forgot about and remembering that things always fall into place faster than we can expect it to and sometimes you’re forced into trying something new because you’ve been putting it off out of not feeling ready…even though maybe you’re more ready than you think you are

Ok but what if life is exponentially more fun when you let yourself dream?

When you imagine new possibilities and go after them, because even when they don’t pan out as expected, a million new doors opened in the process.

When you allow yourself to dream, life expands.

Dreaming reminds us how big the world is, how much there is to learn, how much we don’t know.

And curiosity that comes with it? That’s where the magic happens

The point of dreaming isn’t that the time spent doing it makes it need to be a guarantee.

Some dreams won’t materialize exactly as we imagined, but that isn’t the point. The point is to believe in yourself enough to imagine something more. To let yourself want. Let yourself try.

OK BUT WHAT IF YOU SET YOURSELF UP FOR REJECTION?

This is your tiny experiment number one

Last week I did an experiment of setting myself up for rejection for 3 days. It solidified what we already know - “you don’t know if you don’t ask”

The thing is, getting a no stings and a lot of times we have a sense of when we’re going to get a no anyway so it’s easy to say “I’ll just put my energy somewhere else so it’s not a waste of time”

The more comfortable we can get with getting a no, the more comfortable we get asking and the more opportunities and doors open up.

Let me know if you want to know what happened on day 2 and where you have a feeling opening yourself up to rejection could lead you to a yes that you might be closing yourself off from.

OK, BUT WHAT IF YOU’RE GETTING UNSTUCK before the end of the year. We just have to lock in and we’re starting this week with these 5 things to jump start your 30s glow up before January 1st.

The hardest thing about feeling stuck is feeling like the only thing that will get you unstuck is something grand, but I believe that it’s small daily things that you can do that actually get that feeling of stickiness or behind out of your system.

If you need ideas for your future you 5 comment FUTURE you and I’ll send you a list of suggestions and jumping off points for you to create your own and if you need more ideas just drop it in the comments and I’ll help you brainstorm.

This is your reminder that you never feel great after doomscrolling on the couch for over an hour anyway - and there’s something about realizing that you’re both just sitting there staring at your phones that makes you think “what are we doing?”

Casual chic at 5'1" when it's 68 degrees in DC I'm 5'1" for reference. Wearing XS in the gap 100% cotton sweater and a 0 in the skirt. I know it being low rise sounds intimidating in your 30s but it’s not as low as you think! This is my uniform for in-between weather. Warm enough for a union market coffee walk. Dress it down: swap the Chanel slingback for sneakers. Dress it up: throw on some heeled slinback sandals. Tagged similar options under $100 too. Sizing question? Message me on LTK and I'll tell you what I'd order.

@poudreuxbody @colleenrothschild I’m telling yall! I am low maintenance when it comes to beauty products so when something works I’m sticking to it for like a decade

For the last 6 years I’ve worn hill house almost every other day (literally have a clothing rack outside my closet that’s just hill house)

I’ve never once received gifting or a partnership from. I COULD shop elsewhere from brands who are more likely to partner with me, but idk what magic @nelliediamond put in her standards for how clothes should fit I just can’t find anywhere else that fits my 5’1” self as well!

Plus now I just outed myself that they’re going to get free marketing from me for the foreseeable future 😂

ok but what if you’ve been missing your new favorite step

Lesson One: The Everything Shower.
Prerequisites: none.

Required Materials:
Poudreux Dry Brush + Colleen Rothschild Beauty The Ritual body cream
(Comment SHOWER and I’ll DM you both)

I owned a dry brush ten years ago in my goopy woo woo era. Threw it out during a move and never replaced it, not because I decided it wasn’t working, but because it was out of sight and therefore, to my type B brain, it did not exist.

So the first assignment is simple. Buy the version that is pretty enough to leave on the counter. This one is easy to hold, it’s refillable so you pop the head out every six months instead of replacing the whole thing, and it looks like something you’d choose to display.

PRO TIP: Dry brushing after an internationals flight will make you feel SO good

What’s currently sitting under your sink that you’ve totally forgotten about until now?

Class dismissed. Lesson two drops soon.
