Happy Sunday friends! As I continue to tell my story in the present, I reflect on this photo when I was 5 months pregnant. I was hardly showing, but embracing my little bump in this chic Adriana Degreas swimsuit I got from @yoox for a bargain! Our toddler, Sloane, stayed home and I got to enjoy sunny, relaxing days by the Glamourous Cove pool at the Atlantis resort. I remember being so relieved that I could finally say goodbye to my constant nausea and HG. And I started to feel my baby boy kick inside of me- such sweet moments. As a mom to 2 young kids living in a pandemic, I have experienced a plethora of emotions- frustration, anger, sadness, feeling overwhelmed, loneliness interspersed with little moments of happiness. The little moments of happiness come when I make a conscious decision to live in the moment. I can’t change the past and I can’t predict the future, but I know my kids aren’t going to be little forever and I have been making every effort to put down my phone and enjoy spending time with them- even if it’s as simple as going on a nature walk. I have to say, it’s been really hard - really hard to parent during this challenging time. On Instagram, we see beautiful pictures and idyllic images. But these are just a snapshot of what is going on in our lives. In reality, I’m not perfect. I’m just trying my hardest to stay afloat on some days.

We never know the full story or what goes on behind closed doors- that is why we can never make assumptions about people’s lives. We all have emotions, struggles and problems. And that’s ok- instead of judging other moms on their decisions or opinions, let’s just be kind. The world could always use more kindness. Any moms like to share their pandemic challenges? I hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day weekend! It’s funny, I used to follow fashion rules to a ‘T’ in my 20s. Now I make my own rules lol- fashion is all about expressing your individuality and wearing what makes you feel good. Comment below on the common myths that you follow or don’t follow:
1) no wearing white after Labor Day (I personally love all white monochrome outfits and will be wearing all year long)
2) no mini skirts after 35 ( Sorry Stacey London- I’m 40 and legs are my best asset so I’ll be rocking one as long as I can.)
3) No Metallics or sequins during the day. ( I break this one all the time- I love a sequin top with jeans)
4) Navy and Black don’t go together ( actually they do, the same goes for brown and black. Mixing the color combo in prints or patterns can be so chic)
5) Match your handbag to your shoes ( I’m guilty of this- but there are so many options for handbags - adding different textures for example)

Current mood- wear pink and unwind at the pool or beach. I need to de-stress after the nightmare of my account being hacked earlier this week. Thanks to the voices of my followers and friends, I was able to fight and get my account back. For all of those people who reported my account as being impersonated, I thank you bc it garnered enough attention to make some noise.

Hi friends! Wishing you a very happy holiday season! Took a few days way from social media to spend time with family and friends. I have to tell you, this is the first time my daughter has cooperated for a shoot and I cherish the images.

My daughter likes cars... trucks, balls, trains, buildings and anything that boys are into. She is not a girlie girl like me, so I was surprised when she wanted to step into this adorable dress from the @janieandjack collaboration with @junovalentine.

That’s the thing about kids- they are their own person and develop their individual likes and dislikes. You can’t force them into anything- they are going to follow their own path. I support my daughter in all she does- so if she wants to be a engineer or architect and build buildings, then I’m totally fine with that:)

Well, we have had her in speech therapy for a few months and she still doesn’t speak yet in full sentences. I just think she is stubborn and doesn’t say anything until she really means it.

THERE IS THIS GIRL at school , let’s call her ‘Joy’ for the sake of privacy, who is in Sloane’s preschool class. Joy is the sweetest little girl with a big heart. Joy was born with one arm. The little kids don’t notice her handicap. The big kids do. Sloane’s teacher pulled me aside the other day and said’ you know , you have one compassionate and caring daughter.’ Then she proceeded to tell me a story...

Joy was playing on the playground and an older boy poked fun at her. The teacher shooed him away, but Joy appeared sullen. Sloane ( who again rarely says much), comes over to Joy unprompted, puts her arm around her, and says gently’ you are beautiful.’ They then held hands and began to play.

Honestly people- we need more kindness in this world. Let’s lift each other up and embrace our differences. The ironic thing is, to kids who are ages 2 and 3- friendship doesn’t have a color. An ethnicity. A gender. A body state. Friendship is simply a concept based on enjoying life together and sharing laughs about the same things. It’s really up to parents to make sure it stays that way. #preachkindness

The @bahamas is a special place for me...I have been there 4 times. The most recent trip was for my #babymoon. I am always received by the friendliest of people and am constantly in awe of the natural beauty of the islands. This is the place I celebrated the miracle of being pregnant with my second #ivf baby. I swam in the clear waters while feeling the fluttering of a little heartbeat inside of me. The place has this ability to melt away your stress and give you a sense of peace. The oceans are filled with active sea life- from sharks to colorful reef fish to sea turtles. It’s a place that reminds you to take a step back and appreciate the little things in life.

FLASH FORWARD: Grand Bahama and great Abaco were hit 3 times by an Category 5 hurricane last week. According to @cnn , the death toll has risen to over 30 deaths and the aftermath of the hurricane has left 70,000 people homeless.

TODAY I want to use my influence as a digital creator to give back. It is a great responsibility for all influencers to help society and those in need and I was so sad when I read the message posted by Bahamanian @itscryan and photographer @byjamiebruce . The post basically says that he was shocked that influencers will come to the island to take pictures but after the Bahamas was hit by Hurricane Dorian, very few took to social media to bring attention to the destruction of Grand Bahama and Abaco in the wake of the hurricane’s path. A big thank you big Influencers like @marisa for mentioning this issue. Retailers like @veronicabeard and @vineyardvines are also making donations. I am stepping up today and saying that I will donate a $1 to the @bahamas_redcross_society for every comment I receive below. Also follow @thecoveatlantis @atlantisbahamas who are teaming up with local chefs and rescue aids to provide food and other essentials to those that have been displaced from their homes. I read something on another blogger’s page that really resonated with me today. Life is not a race. It doesn’t have a timetable or schedule that everyone has to follow. And the comparison game is a waste of time simply because we all accomplish things by our own terms and at our own pace. Don’t beat yourself up for where you are. I decided to have kids later on in life and that worked for me. Technically I might have had more energy in my twenties, but I am more confident now and had more time to explore career paths and travel. Be happy with life in the present and strive to be a better version of yourself rather than trying to ‘keep up’ with someone else.

Hello my wonderful friends and followers! I am back. I have a story to tell- and like all stories mine has a beginning, a middle and an end. Because some time has passed, I want to start with this photo I took on my babymoon when I was 5 months pregnant. Honestly, at this stage in my pregnancy I felt genuinely beautiful. I didn’t care if my growing belly was protruding over my swimsuit or that my hips were expanding. It’s amazing how pregnancy gives you an instant confidence boost- I was so proud of the fact I was growing a human being, that many of my body image insecurities seemed to vanish. I had such a wonderful time in the Bahamas at Atlantis and it was the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a holiday- it’s the perfect place for couples, families and kids. I highly recommend! Happy Labor Day everyone! Not ready to turn my back on summer yet... after all, it is still officially summer until September 22. We just spent a week at my parents’ lake house where I took time to unplug from social media and enjoy time with my family. Sitting on the roof of a fraternity with my then boyfriend-watching a once in a lifetime meteor shower with thousands of falling stars. A moment I didn’t need to capture via phone- the feeling and the visual are etched in my mind forever. The blissful joy and elation I felt when I looked in my daughter’s eyes for the first time. You see, the most beautiful moments of joy happen in sips, not gulps. That’s why it’s so important to occasionally put down the phone and live in the moment. Am I completely fearless? No. But I’m less fearful than when I was younger. Ironic right? Kids are supposed to be the ones with a sense of invincibility that gives them the courage to do things without hesitation. I remember those little kids who would rush down the ski hill next to me- carefree and filled with confidence. As opposed to my younger, shyer self- I am now open to taking more risks in my adulthood. Trying new things. Not letting fear of failure have a grip on me. So, finally applied to write for a magazine. I decided I didn’t care what my body looked like when I went running - I could bare my belly without fear of scrutiny. And I could go to industry events and new situations by myself and know that I could handle any challenge thrown my way. I’m drawn towards adventure now. No, I won’t go sky diving, but I’ll try surfing lessons or I’ll wear that bikini that’s been sitting my closet forever. As Dale Carnegie said, ‘ if you want to conquer fear, don’t sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy. That embodies a true entrepreurial spirit. Be bold. Be strong. Being a parent is a privilege... I learned that the hard way. When we found out our only option to conceive was through IVF, we were devestated. I was so scared about the process and anxious about whether I would become a mom or not. And I kept quiet about it because it felt taboo to discuss it with anyone. I felt alone. But somehow I garnered immense inner strength to get through it- did you know that over 50% of women drop out at various stages of the IVF process bc it’s incredibly challenging. There are many ups and downs. But for the women thinking about or going through IVF, believe me, it’s worth every damn shot ( pardon my French). Be strong. Have faith. My little girl is the best thing to ever happen to me and even when I am exhausted, frustrated, and the days are seemingly endless, I remember what I went through to have her. And I remind myself that she is a gift that I will never take for granted. I will always walk through life by her side.
