When we were budgeting for our home renovations, we knew we weren’t going into debt again. A few year ago, we did a total home renovation. Here are some things I learned:⁣ ⁣ 1. Start planning as far in advanced as possible. These things take time, and planning, and I’ve learned that the decisions I made that were one year in advanced were much better than those I had to make under a short time constraint.⁣ ⁣ 2. Establish a budget for your project. How much can you reasonably afford? Decide what it is, and if you need to wait and save up for the renovation, the extra time will give you insight on the things you really want to do, and don’t want to do in your reno.⁣ ⁣ 3. Break down your budget into all of the projects you want to do. For example, If you want to do several things to your home, break it down to things like: flooring, windows, bathroom reno (which can be further broken down to the things you will need to buy like a vanity mirror, a vanity, sink, sconces, vanity hardware, etc), labor, etc. The more detailed you are, the more likely you will be in budget.⁣ ⁣ 4. Establish a budget category called unforeseen expenses. These things will most likely come up no matter how much you plan. If you budget for it, then it won’t derail your debt-free journey.⁣ ⁣ I originally started this instagram account to document our home renovation. I’ve slightly shifted gears, but still appreciate home decor. ⁣ ⁣ This home renovation savings tracker will be available for purchase on my ETSY shop next week (I’m shooting for Wednesday). Having a visible tracker helps to keep you focused on your goal, and serves as a reminder of how far you have come! With each savings tracker purchase, you will get a 5 x 7, 8.5 x 11, and 11 x 14 PDF digital download so you can choose which size best fits your space. If you are signed up for my email list, you will be getting a discount code next week! ⁣ ⁣ Who else likes watching Fixer Upper and HGTV?
