Opening and closing your hand and/or gripping. b. Moving your hand side to side. c. Moving your thumb away from the rest of the hand. d. Pinching. However, it’s these movements in addition to doing them significantly throughout your days/weeks/months/years AND with poor mechanics. The other day I had a conversation with an individual who couldn’t be convinced that doing activities repeatedly could lead to injury because, as this person said, “Our bodies are meant to move.” And that’s true. Also, like I mentioned, doing these movements to an excessive amount can leave you VULNERABLE to DeQuervain’s but it does NOT guarantees you will get it. It is important, however, that we are aware of what may put us at risk! So pay attention throughout your day! What activities in your day are you doing these movements too much? I’d like to know!
